Fallen Leaf

The cold autumn breeze blew through the trees. It found every fallen leaf along the street—red, yellow, orange, even the brown. Sweeping its way along the curb, the wind made leaves dance in the air. Tossing and turning, doing flips to deserve a round of applause from its audience. A petite girl walked right through the act. The wind lifted the girl’s soft curls away from where it rest, and blew it softly and warmly against her face. She looked around at the familiar surroundings –red, bricked buildings and the cherry blossom trees. The clock seemed to freeze with ice. Time. While hazy memories painted on the canvas of her mind, her thoughts were interrupted as if a siren went off. She turned to see students gathered around three people. Then she saw them. God’s gifts to mankind. The four Archangels of the Cardinal point. The F4. They walked straight through the crowds like light illuminated behind them. Basking in their beauty, the students awe the three angels. A voice rang through the scene. Opening up the gates of Troy. “F4 are jerks who just break people’s hearts and promises!” People started to turn their head to see where the source of the shouting echoed from. The students parted like the Red Sea. The end of the path leading to the girl.

The leader of the gang went ahead to see the person who made the remark against the F4 as the other two companions trailed behind. He saw the girl standing between the surprised and shocked students. He stared at the little girl in front of him. The absence of speech made aware of the light, wind whirling the girl’s hair, caressing the side of her face. The wind stops its fun and revealed a smile that was shadowed by her hair. She then turned around and started walking towards her destination. The thought ‘Yi Jung will be glad’ breezed in the three men’s minds as they watched the girl fade into the trees proceeding to Yi Jung’s studio.
